How it Came to Be

"... yeah, 'man' doesn't have to mean football and-", but it can, for that man. Me? I'm going to take that title and show you what a man can be.

I was hiding in the middle, both ends of the spectrum were too concrete. I loved the idea of flowing because when I thought about gender-fluidity, it was easy to understand my feelings.

As I did, I learned that my stability was at stake; I stayed in the middle because either side threatened themselves, instead of love and acceptance, there was fear and arrogance. Esta danza represents what I longed for: to dance with my spirit, to show it love, to show that I am free to be.

I felt more masculine the more I embraced my femininity, maybe it's because as I do, I also accept my masculinity. Maybe it's because the freedom of allowing myself to be more effeminate shows how comfortable I am in my masculinity. I do not accept "the binary" as there are a spectrum of genders, I feel more stable calling myself a man, but this is my version of what a man is.
